Summary: Kaoru Amane (Yui) is a 16-year-old musician. However, no one knows about her music because she suffers from XP (xeroderma pigmentosum) … being allergic to the sun. She lives in her own world with one friend. Kaoru likes to go in to a local park at midnight and play her songs. Usually, she does this by herself or with her friend. She has a crush on Koji Fujishiro (Takashi Tsukamoto), but has not talked to him, until one night when she is playing her songs. As they continue meeting each other, Koji realizes that he is falling for this girl. When he finds out about her illness, he decides to stay by her. He even works during his summer holidays so that she can fulfill her dream of becoming a famous singer/musician.
Impression: I enjoyed this movie. I think the main focus was Yui and her music. I actually like her music (was first introduced to it by my sister). There really wasn’t anything special about this movie…it’s just a good one to watch because the plot is interesting and the characters are unique. Karou is really headstrong. I liked watching her play in front of the crowd. She was not self-conscious because she really enjoys her music. I like that. It talks about ordinary people touched by this 16 year old girl.
